Review Summary

Equipped with not only application control, but also with additional screwing features and fastener damage, the DeWalt DCF887 model is the perfect addition to any tool lover’s toolbox. It’s great quality and offers a 3-LED halo light ring to ensure that you can always see what you’re doing when you’re working with the impact driver. It has the newest brushless technology and 250Nm of torque, which is pretty impressive for the price you pay. This tool might not be the least expensive option, but it’s always better to spend a little more on an impact driver if you’re going to use it often. This DCF887 model even comes with a 3-speed setting so that you can get your job done 3 times as fast—or 3 times slower, if that’s what you require. The compact and lightweight design allows for users to fit it into tight spaces without hassle or worry. This design also makes it easier to use for lengthy periods of time. However, the product doesn’t rate so well with regard to the quality of the included batteries—they could be a lot better. In addition to this, the model needs improvements in the setting strength as there have been issues with changing the setting from the 1st to the 2nd or 3rd. Despite this, it’s still an impact driver worth your money!

DeWalt is a trustworthy brand that produces good quality products for both the beginner and the professional. No matter where you are in your career, you can count on the DeWalt brand to serve you well and for a long time. They have a great 3-year limited warranty on many of their products (including this DCF887 model!) which means that if you ever have any issues, they can sort them out for you!

Brushless Technology

Brushless technology is all the rage in the cordless power tools industry right now and has been for the last few years. This DCF887 model incorporates it perfectly, allowing for increased power where it’s needed and excellent efficiency. The point of having brushless technology is so power tools can change and adjust according to the task—and this model’s brushless technology works great. This means that you can save battery life and still have a high-powered tool without hassle. It’s important to note that the brushless technology works with resistance—the more resistance the drill/driver senses, the more power it uses. It’s a great element on the model and many customers give positive feedback about it in their reviews.

3-Speed Settings

Another great feature that many other DeWalt models don’t include is the 3-speed option. This allows you to control how powerful and fast the driver goes, with 1 being the least powerful and 3 (obviously) being the most powerful. This allows for optimized application versatility and gives users the option to have more control over their power tool. Sometimes the DeWalt models can seem very overpowering to a beginner or hobbyist, so it’s important to start out with a lower setting and work your way up. For those who are semi- or full-time professionals, you won’t have any problems with the settings. Customers tend to love this feature as it offers versatility in terms of how you choose to use the power tool.

Compact and Lightweight

It’s important for impact drivers to be compact so that you can carry them about and transport them if you need to, but it’s also important for them to be lightweight. Why is that? Because if you’re doing a few hours’ worth of work and have to hold up the driver, a heavyweight driver will cause your arms to ache. One of the best things about DeWalt is that they ensure customer satisfaction, and their lightweight design on most of their power tools is always a huge plus!

FAQ

How good is the warranty that comes with this model?

A 3-years limited warranty accompanies this model. This is similar to other models that DeWalt offers and is pretty standard when it comes to their products. The warranty is limited though which means that certain situations or damages will not be covered. It’s essential you read the warranty agreement before purchasing the model to ensure you’re happy with it.

How durable is the DeWalt DCF887?

As is the case for most DeWalt products, this model is durable. DeWalt is known in the power tool industry for creating very good quality tools that are difficult to break. This is great news if you’re clumsy and often drop or break things. We still suggest you’re careful with this model though as it is expensive.  Personal damage isn’t covered by the warranty, so be cautious of how you treat it.

Is this model good for beginners also?

Yes, we say it’s more appropriately tailored toward those who are new to the industry, but professionals are also welcome to use it.  Compared to other models available, it boasts a cheaper price tag. Also, its easy-to-use functions are helpful for anyone who’s new to this type of power tool.

What the Users Say

We went ahead and researched what other users are saying about the DCF887 model, and after reading various reviews we can say with confidence that the positives definitely outweigh the negatives. It’s affordable, making it perfect for anyone who’s starting out. But it’s also ideal for professionals. The 3-LED ring light is a customer favorite along with the brushless technology. On the other hand, users tend to have a problem with the chuck. On some models it’s wobbly, as is also the setting strength of the higher settings, meaning that those who are new might have problems using the setting changer.

However, the general consensus is that it’s great quality for the money and does the job it’s meant to do.
