How Long Does It Take To Grow Weed? Well, this is probably the most asked question by many curious and soon-to-be weed growers. Not even the most experienced weed grower has a straight answer to it. Truth is that the amount of time taken during weed growing depends on a range of factors which tend to widely vary. For instance, the type of soil you are using, whether it is indoors or outdoors and even the strain of the cannabis you are using can have a significant impact on the overall time it takes to grow weed. A typical weed growing timeline goes through stages namely seed, seedling, vegetative, flowering and harvest. Here is a rough time guide describing the time taken from the moment you plant weed seeds to the time you smoke it.
Obtain Equipment (0 days to 2 weeks)
At this stage, your task is to obtain the necessary equipment as well as prepare your weed growing area. The length of time at this stage may be less depending on how quick you get the equipment and prepare the growing area.
Getting seeds or clones (0 days to 4 weeks)
It takes a little longer if you have to order the seeds from the seed bank. An instant access to the seeds can cut the time spent here by a huge margin.
Seed germination (1 to 5 days)
Marijuana seedlings can germinate in two days but you can skip this wait by obtaining clones.
Vegetative stage (2 weeks to 2 months)
Most of the cannabis plants take between 2 to 3 weeks in the vegetative stage. The size achieved by your plant has a big impact on the eventual harvest.
Flowering (6 weeks to 4 months)
This is the timeline for the flowering stage
l 1-3 Weeks; Transition to flowering
l 3-4 Weeks; Formation of budlets
l 4-6 Weeks; Fattening of buds
l 6-8 Weeks; Ripening of buds and darkening pistils
l Week 8+; End flowering. Harvest
This stage can take between 2 weeks and 1 month.
Drying (3 to 10 days)
Drying can be a slow process and can take up to 10 days to remove most moisture from weed. This also serves to prevent the growth of mold.
Curing (2 weeks to 1 month)
It is the last stage of Marijuana growing. Curing eliminates some unwanted properties such as harsh taste, grassy smell and so on.
It takes some time to grow weed, so you’ll need to be patient. But it’s seriously worth the wait! By the way you should be able to speed up the process a tad with some properly set-up LED grow lights. Play with your setup and you should be able to at least cut off 1 week of wait time.
